More Salmon From Russia

Good news from the Far East region where catches of Pacific salmon already exceeded 150 thousand MT.

As reported in the Public Relations Centre of Russia’s Federal Fishery Agency, at the beginning of August in all regions, except for the Primorsky region, there was a positive dynamics of Pacific salmon catching compared to the results of previous even year, 2010. The increase compared to 2010 amounted to about 45 thousand MT.
I’d also like to note a new feature of the current fishing season.
This year volumes of salmon processing on onshore facilities significantly increased. For example, if on the Kamchatka Peninsula the daily capacity of onshore processing facilities did not exceed 3 thousand MT in 2010, now it’s close to 6 thousand MT. So the total daily processing capacity reached 11 thousand MT.
As for the Sakhalin region, daily catches there are about 1.5 thousand MT, but they are expected to increase.
So our customers may not worry about high-quality salmon from Russia this year.
