Record Catches On Russian Far-East

By the end of 2012 the total volume of aquatic resources caught by the Russian fishing companies in Primorsky region can reach more than 800 thousand MT.

Provided the weather conditions are favorable, this will become the best result for the last ten years.
As I’ve learned from the press service of the regional administration, by now the total catch had exceeded results of previous year by 65 thousand MT.
In particular, compared to 2011 Russian fishing companies increased catches of following species:
-          Alaska Pollock: + 26 thousand MT,
-          Pacific Herring: + 25 thousand MT,
-          Flounder: + 1.5 thousand MT.
According to the region’s vice-governor, with the adoption of the government program “The fishing industry development of in the Primorsky region for 2013-2017 years” it’s planned that the volumes of fish and other seafood catches will be growing.
I’ve read this program, and can say that a special attention in it is paid to support of fish farming, fish processing factories modernization, and development of measures aimed to further growth of export of Russia’s seafood with high added value.
