Russia and Vietnam Start Joint Projects In Fishery

Russian fishing companies develop business with both West and East

As I learned recently, on the intergovernmental talks the prime ministers of Russia and Vietnam announced plans to actively promote and support partnership in fishing industry.
In particular, it was decided to negotiate and sign a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Customs Union. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev confirmed that the negotiations on the establishment of the appropriate area and the development of relations between two sides would start next year. He also noted that the existing agreements were successfully implemented, and for the first nine months of the current year the total volume of bilateral trade grew by 150 per cent.
As for fishery, it should be noted that the strategic projects of the two countries, in particular, include establishment of Vietnamese enterprises for production of deeply processed seafood and fish products on the territory of the Russian Far East.
I was also glad to know that Russian and Vietnamese fisheries scientific institutions had arranged joint research as well as scientific and technical cooperation in the field of sturgeon farming in Russia.
